A dress is something that makes one feel memorable, and that sensation relies on the flawless fit. Ready-to-wear does not usually fit the fabric to your structure. Our alteration service is here to make that match. We believe that all dresses, casual sundress, or a designer evening dress, must fit your figure. It must hold your posture, display your curves, and make you feel good and gorgeous.
We start with a detailed, personal consultation. You will be working with a master tailor who is an expert in women clothes as long as you are wearing the dress. We examine the motion of the cloth over your body and locate places where we find to be needing repairs. Most frequent are fixes on things such as open necklines or armholes, a waist that is either too high or too low, or a hem that disarranges the balance of the dress. We listen to what you would like to change in the finish be it a big change or a little adjustment and we make sure the changes reflect the way you would like to feel.
We have a great variety of adjustments according to the design and material of the dress:
- Bodice Reshaping: Taking in side seams, adjusting darts, or lifting the entire bodice to eliminate gaping and create a secure, flattering fit through the bust and waist.
- Hemming & Re-proportioning: Expertly shortening a hem while preserving a designer’s original finish, or re-balancing an asymmetrical or multi-layer hem for perfect proportion.
- Strap & Sleeve Adjustments: Shortening spaghetti straps, narrowing wide shoulder straps, or tapering and shortening sleeves for enhanced comfort and a cleaner line.
- Zipper & Closure Corrections: Replacing faulty zippers, addressing bubbling, or creating modesty panels for low-cut backs and necklines.
- Complex Structural Work: For formal gowns, we specialize in taking in mermaid skirts, adjusting built-in corsetry, and managing heavy underskirts to maintain the dress’s intended silhouette.
The trade is through the painstaking accuracy. We treat delicate chiffons, structured brocades, and stretchy jerseys with special methods, so every seam is flat and every stitch holds. In lined and complicated evening wear we do rip, and sew up the two layers, without losing the integrity and drape of the dress.
The outcome is a dress that is like a second skin. It makes you feel good since it is perfectly fitting on all sides and you are able to move, dance and celebrating freely and gracefully.
