A waistcoat is the fashion piece that can be put on to a suit that has been worn with unmatched grace, or as a standalone fashion statement with a strong character of personal style. It is the garment which encircles the chest, which shapes the silhouette, it exhibits attention to particulars which others ignores. However, its tight fit means that there is no room for errors; the slightest fitting problem such as ripped back or a too long waist can break down a whole outfit. Our waistcoat alteration service is an art form, meant to shape this base garment to your torso so that it is not only wearing extremely comfortable, but also looks flawless.
It starts with an elaborate diagnostic fitting. You will put on the waistcoat on top of the shirt you are to wear with it. The master tailor does a scrupulous analysis, paying attention to the points that make the perfect fit. We examine the armholes to make sure that they are up to the point and tighten against the body, the back so that they do not pull or have excess fabric, and lastly the length to make sure that it fits the waistband gracefully without blousing. We hear what you want, whether that is a traditional, relaxed fit or one that is more modern, tightly fitting, and closely-shaped.
The most popular and tricky fit issues that we handle with our all-inclusive waistcoat alteration services include:
Adopting the Sides and Back: It is our most demanded service. We also masterfully sew in the side seams and alter the back darts or panel, eliminating any excess material and producing a smooth, shaping form in a natural taper that is not constraining to the back of your torso.
Reducing the Length: Having a waistcoat that is excessive in length causes an unflattering blousing. We trim it exactly on the shoulders or the bottom hem so that it fits exactly over your trousers.
Armhole Refinement: We can adjust the armholes higher and tighter to have a more clean and more comfortable look and so the waistcoat does not peek out of your jacket.
Waistband/Back Tightening: The waistband can be tightened to fit more snugly and the back strap/panel can be readjusted to make the fit really personal.
Lining & Button Repositioning: Beginning to do a major resize we might need to re-seat the buttons so that they are in the right place again so that the front is flat.
Our alterations are artistic so that the waistcoat will appear and feel original. We align thread carefully, maintain the original stitching pattern and press all new seams to a professional level. To achieve a large reduction we have to frequently partially dislodge, and re-set, the lining, which is a delicate operation with which we are very accurate. What comes out is the second-skin waistcoat. This is the faith that is in a layer so snugly fitted that it is almost natural, and provides a sharpness of polish that gives you an advantage over being neatly dressed to being faultlessly cool.
