Jacket Alterations

About

jacket alteration

The jacket is the main detail of a garment. It is supposed to exhibit self-confidence and fashion. A jacket that would be a fortune to buy can appear awful, because of the width of the shoulders, the flatness of the waist, or the excess length of the sleeves. We are of the opinion that fit is important. We assist in transforming off-the-rack jackets or your favourite jackets into things that are not only great looking, but also fit you just right.

Making changes on a jacket is quite a demanding task that requires one to know the construction of the jacket. Our master tailors begin by having a sit down meeting. Cheque the jacket on you, find any issues with the fit and make decisions what can be fixed. They examine the balancing of the jacket, the fit of the sleeves and the way the collar fits your neck. Then they present to you a clear plan that entails numerous adjustments such as:

Sleeve Length

The most common change. At the cuff, we cut or add lengths to the sleeves, preserving the buttons and details of the vents. Should some larger adjustment be required, we will be able to readjust the shoulders to keep the jacket in balance.

Waist Suppression

We recut the side seams and move the back darts. This creates a less boxy shape that prevents the boxy appearance and takes on the natural shape of your body.

Taking in the Back

In order to fit the jacket, we can cut the extra fabric behind. It is a delicate operation that will not alter the armholes or the shoulder seams.

Minor Shoulder Adjustments

We can make the jacket so that way that we can make the shoulders a little narrower or we can adjust the padding to suit you better.

The most impressive aspect of our work is the completion. We make everything, delicate silk blazers, heavy wool suits and tough motorcycle jacket leather. Every material will require a specific procedure. In case of structured jackets we use the canvas on the inside so that we maintain the new shape. We remove and resew linings, stitching to a high degree, reinforcing stitches to ensure long lasting durability. What is desired is a change that is not only smooth but also preserves the original design and makes your jacket have a new look that fits you.

Changing the jackets is important in having a neat wardrobe. It picks up a whole appearance, giving a jacket that is nice a powerful style object. What it brings about is a jacket that moves with you, is quite comfortable and has an easy style. It makes you feel confident, considering you know that your silhouette is crisp, focused and perfectly fitted to match you.

Here are some of the most common questions we receive about clothing alterations:

FAQ

Average time: Most custom dresses require 1-2 weeks; the time of a bridal gown can vary based on the level of difficulty and alterations. We will provide a definite schedule during your consultation.

Yes - we are bridal dress specialists, and those kinds of elaborate alterations, such as installing bustles and structural modifications.

Absolutely. We will be able to use your cloth or assist in finding the high-quality ones with reliable suppliers.

The prices will be different depending on complexity and materials. After a first session of consultation and measurement, we present itemised quotes.

Tailoring is an entirely custom practise. An exclusive paper is hand-written, depending on your actual measurements and posture, and can be personalised in any manner with respect to style, cloth, and fit. Made-to-measure is a tailoring of a standard base pattern to your measurements, which does not give as much flexibility in silhouette as ready-to-wear, but provides a more customised fit.

In case of a new custom clothing, we tend to plan 2-4 fittings to make a gradual improvement of the fitting. With normal changes, a single fitting may be enough to hold the changes, then a last attempt of trying on to be certain of the changes being perfect.

It is easy to take clothes in, but it is only possible to take a garment out when there is enough excess cloth in the seams. In your consultation, we will consider the seam allowances and give you a fair judgment.

Absolutely. Our master tailors and seamstresses spend all their life working with a great variety of materials, both delicate silk chiffon and lace, and heavyweight leather and fur. We employ special methods and equipment that are used to produce the perfect outcome without destroying the fabric.

Depending on the complexity and time taken in performing a particular job, prices are set. A basic hemming service begins at a cheaper rate and more sophisticated restructurings such as acquiring a suit jacket are more complex. Our prices are clear and straightforward, and we do not give any surprises since we do not want to be caught unawares.

Please bring the shoes and under garment you will be wearing with the garment. This is essential in coming out with the right hem level, posture, and general silhouette. In case of suit fittings, take a shirt that you are going to wear.

We provide express services upon request in case of urgent changes. We will never lie on what is possible to do within a tight timeframe and will discuss possible ramification to the cost. Please call us as soon as you can get a slot.

Yes and we offer a complete list of repair services, such as zip-per repair, seam repair, patchwork repair and coat or jacket re-lining that returns the functionality and wearability to the pieces you hold dear.

Yes, we can. Most of our clients include inspiring photos or sketches of their own. These serve as a starting point to a consultation where we talk about how the design can be modified to suit your figure and be made reality with the help of the right fabrics and construction.

Any custom commission or large alteration order will need 50% deposit to start work on the project. The balance balance is payable on finishing fitting and collection. In case of smaller modification work, it is paid at once on completion.

We offer both options. Our selection of high-quality fabric swatches varies widely and we have a range of fabric swatches of famous mills. Alternatively, we welcome you to find your own fabric, and we are glad to advise on its appropriateness to your intended garment.

Every garment is given individual aftercare guidelines when collected. We usually suggest professional dry clean only in cases of need and steamer instead of ironing the clothes to preserve their integrity and shape, especially tailored suits and delicate objects.

We know that schedules are altered. We just require a minimum of 24 hours notice in order to rearrange or cancel a fitting appointment. This will enable us to give the slot to a different client. Bespoke project deposits are not refundable after pattern drafting or cutting of fabric has started.
